is it possible to make leaf spring 1 1/2 or 2" lift blocks at home? i have metal saws welding machines grinders etc. .if so what materials do i need?

Don't. They are cheap to buy. Or get a set of stock ones off a scrap yard ranger.

autozone, they are only like $20...

Ranger ones. I assume you're trying to fix the sag? I used a stock Ranger block and it worked perfect 'til I changed everything.

What's happened to the backyard, red-neck, do-it-yourself attitude??... I'd build it myself using 1/4" plate. Unless I had some kicking around.

get the stock 2" blocks from a 4x4 ranger

i build most of my own crap... but when its as simply as $20 and i work 40 hours a week and have 18 hours in college classes... running my autozone is easier than cutting/welding/grinding...

now things like a bumper... $160 in materials compared to buying it at $550... hell yeah i'm gonna make it. i find time.

See, I'm glad you see where I'm coming from Richard, rather than take offense! :icon_cheers:
For myself, I jerry-rig a lot of stuff together and make it work. But when it comes to the safety and stability of my running gear, I don't want something falling off doing 100 down the highway. Just my $.02 :icon_thumby:

Yes, there are some who should never attempt to modify their trucks [other than cosmetic...and maybe not even then];

I've definitely changed my opinion on vehicle inspections since I've read this thread, it's too bad that most have children before getting snuffed.

do not use the autozone type aluminum blocks on a 4x4.

get oem or extruded skyjacker types.

the autozone ones are worse then home made steel units on a wheeler. actually homemade steel units are better then oem ones as you can tailor them perfectly.

i busted skyjacker units before and only use the autozone type as temporary when needed. for a street driven vehicle that does not launch hard the autozone blocks are fine....anything that gets its ass kicked and your headed for disappointed.

i've wheeled and towed on autozone 2" blocks... and never broke them. and gave them away to a guy that's using them still.

1 in or 2 in? 1in stouter...2 in fail.

give them to me:icon_thumby:....i will make sure they wont fail on the road.
