I have everything hooked up but I have a suspicion that going from manual to automatic doesn’t work for the ecu. Will I need to have my engine computer reprogrammed in order to start the vehicle?

PATS system has been completely tuned out so I know that’s not the issue.

how bout the basics, fuel, air, fire... where do you stand on troubleshooting those?

as far as ecu being wrong trans, I understand that is a CEL, not an issue starting... as far as PATS delete (by "out" you mean you went through all the steps to delete it, right) I don't know all the steps but they are here in some thread or another..

Fuel air and fire can’t even be viewed because the engine will not crank. And the 2001 4cyl rangers don’t have pats and it was programmed completely out of my ecu.
This is my first engine swap or anything remotely close to it so I’m pretty lost here

No crank on a non-pats is gonna be battery, solenoid, starter, wiring.... or seized motor.... on a "pats deleted" system it could be incomplete pats removal.

I'd start from square one, can you turn the motor over with a socket on the nose (eliminate seized).
Do you have good full power at batter, at solenoid, at 2nd post of solenoid when in crank position, starter terminal....
If you just finished swap, did you get all the grounds: battery to frame, frame to body, body to engine, frame to engine, (later, but check now battery to fuel pump, etc - the 2 extra grounds rangers normally have).

Is there a good ground wire diagram somewhere?

Check park neutral safety, it will definitely not allow the motor to even turn over

I have the shift position sensor plugged in and set to neutral

A fully working pats system the engine will still crank, just not start... I would go back to the basics of seized, grounds, mains (4 gauge) leads... check all the big fat 4 ga wiring( + and - ).
