I'm working on swapping my old 2.9 for a better condition 2.9. I turned the engine upside down while on the engine stand to work on the oil pan. I had oil come out of the intake manifold. I'm assuming it was from the valley. Without tearing everything off the top is there a good way to clean this out? I don't remember this happening the last time I did this on a swap?

dont worry about it, just install the engine as planned. when you start the engine it will smoke for a few minutes, when it stops smoking throw a new set of plugs in it. also i would change the oil pump while the pan is off. low oil pressure is the leading cause to the lifter clatter on the 2.9. i would also clean the oiling holes on the rocker shafts for better oiling in the top end. now is the time, its a lot easier when the engine out.

The oil is coming from the egr valves. Only in the front. I cleaned it right up. I replaced the oil pump yesterday. Have the pan back on. The old engine out. Getting ready to swap the fly wheel and torque converter after I replace the rear main. Might have it up and running today!!!

Probably just either the #1 or #4 intake valve open.
