So I’ve got an 86K 2008 4.0 4x4 that I want to add another pedal.

I’ve picked up a 97 Transmissions, pedals, wire harness ECU etc. I’ve realized after reading some threads that PATs will be an issue with my swap. The local dealer is unsure if their tech can flash my ECU because the transmission guy is new.

Is there an easy solution to get this resolved? Any dealers/techs on here that can/will do the work? FB forums are trash and we’re 0 help when I asked around.

I’ve been reading forum posts on the swap but they are normally older trucks w out pats.

I’m adding 31s and bilsteins to it hopefully this summer when swap daily drivers.

Also I’m aware I can’t use the 97 ECU (figure the trans should still work even tho it’s not an HD model).
i may consider trading my auto for a manual if I can find anyone to bite.

The only difference in the HD/non HD is the ratios. I know first is taller in the HD, not sure if anything else.

you should be able to run the manual trans off the auto trans computer, but you will see a cel.

My assumption is that the easiest way to make it work is to reprogram the existing ecu to work with the manual. If the dealer can’t do it, an aftermarket tuner shop should be able to.

I suspect it could also be done with forescan, but I’m not familiar enough with it yet.

On the 4.0L the HD and normal are the same other than the case I think, the bellhousing area is a bit different on the HD but I don't pay attention much to 4.0L stuff... all 4.0L M5OD's got taller ratios in first through 3rd gear...

I'm not sure on the computer part, you'll get a code or two but that should be it I believe.
