a4ld, new front seal or rebuild

hey guys i have a quick question. i have just blown the front seal and pump on my 92 ranger (a4ld). the truck has 133,000kms and i'm wondering if it is worth just fixing the seal and pump or doing a complete rebuild. the truck was a grandpa special until 125,000kms and then i took over. the price difference is $900dollars, rebuild being more of course. i would just like some advise on which way to go.

This depends on you of course. You could pull the trans and put a new front pump seal in. Reinstall the trans and find that the seal did not work. Or you could do that same job and the seal has worked and will last you until you are ready to get rid of the truck. Like I said it depends on you. Are you going to keep the truck for a while or drive it for a minute and sell it? The way I see this is I have done plenty of front seals that have not worked, or they have worked for a while and then go again. Replacing the seal is a bandaid fix. I would spend the money and do the full rebuild with a warranty from the rebuilder. If you plan to go this way ask them to get the 4.0 internals for the transmission.

well i do plan on keeping this truck for along time, and one day i will swap it to a 5speed but as of right now i have to keep it a auto for 2 reasons cause i have no time/no room to work atm and also i have to keep it an auto for my sister to drive.
