First off, this seems to be a great forum... also full of people with knowledge!
(i have a 1993 ranger 4x4 3.0 5spd manual) i will start with a little background to my question. i had a rebuild on my tranny less than 5k ago. before it was replaced, the plugs on the top side of their Mazda M50D-R1 were believed to be leaking. i had the tranny replaced by a crappy corporate company (first mistake, and didn't mention the leak.. 2nd mistake). i thought it would stop the leak but apparently a rebuild has nothing to do with the plugs which is where i believe the leak to be coming from (im told it's common). anyhow, to get to the point i want to know if i can get to the plugs now that the tranny is rebuilt and attached to the truck. is there an easy way to get to the plugs from the top or inside of the truck? also, would a person not mechanically inclined be able to do this? any help is much appreciated.

I think you are talking about the shift rail plugs. Go to the tech library, manual tranny section, and click on the shift rail plug maintenance section.....

Talldrink, I just ordered 10 Dorman 555-108 freeze plugs on ebay (paid $1.25, the guy had them priced wrong he said) I'd be happy to just send you three in the mail, shoot me a private message if you're interested. They might be a little hard to install with the trans. still installed in the truck unless you roll back he carpet and remove the aluminum shifter plate for access.
