Wife is coming and rented a hard-sided camper for me to tow. The dog is not coming.
This means I will order a Curt Echo brake controller and get the tranny fluid and filter changed. I’ll probably need new tires by then. Trip is getting expensive.

To be honest, I’m not at all impressed with the Curt brake controllers. I’ve had two in the F-150 and both were junk in short order. Dad had Tekonsha in both of the dump trucks and I’m thinking that’s going to be what I buy next. The only problem he had with them was the ground failing because the shop was dumb about how they connected the grounds (this was before I really got into vehicle wiring).

I use Tekonsha and like it. It was one of their high end models when I bought it.the research I did at the time indicated that was the go-to brand.

The Echo simply connects between the factory 7-pin plug and the trailer plug and is controlled by your cell phone via Bluetooth. Be okay for the one time I may tow a trailer with brakes. If we end up buying one then I'll get one that's hard-wired.

If you have a factory 7 pin on the back, it should be already wired from the factory, you just need the correct adapter harness to plug it in. I think our fearless leader did one in TRS 3… not sure what brand he used though.

About a month ago I purchased a Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller from RedArc for my 2021 Ford Ranger. Although I don't have a trailer anymore, my girlfriend had wanted to move a horse trailer and I like for my trucks to be setup to do anything I could need them to do.
