right now I have a 2.5 in my truck and I would like to put a 2.3L in it, what will i have to do in order for it to work? and has anyone done it before????

Which 2.3? The duratec or the Pinto?

idk, which one it is one of my buddies has it. The engine came out of his '95 4wd ranger xlt

That would be the 2.3 Lima engine (same as the Pinto version, mostly)

I'm interested to know what it'll take to change over, as well.

AFAIK right now, I doubt you'll have to change anything except computer.

However, why are you wanting to change motors? Other than the longer stroke of the 2.5L, those two engines are nearly perfectly identical...

what kind of aftermarket parts are you trying to get? The main differences between a '95 2.3 and a '98 2.5L are the crank, rods, pistons and fuel rail ('98 is returnless), run what you are wanting to do by us and we'll let you know what will work and what won't... unless you are trying to go forced induction the 2.5L will take about anything you will put to it since the 2.5L has weaker rods and pistons...

I've been looking into doing this myself recently. You can keep OBDII and just swap the 2.3 crank, pistons and rods, run low boost and be on your way. I've read the stock MAF will handle 6-7 lbs of boost, which isn't much, but hey boost is boost. Or you can run a TC computer and swap the whole block, but you'd have to re-pin your harness and switch to the older EEC-IV system.

I'd prefer to keep OBDII, so I'm not sure what I may do from here, but I'm interested to hear what others have to say.

swap a 2.3 crank and some pre 94 rods, and either aftermarket(wiseco or some other) forged pistons, OR get some 5.5" Ess Lite rods, and some forged 2.5 pistons... check www.esslingeracing.com
