1993 Splash in SC

I wouldnt worry about it too much, it will quit leaking eventually. :icon_thumby:

That's when you start worrying about.

If it's leaking you know there's fluid in it. When it stops (on it's own), then you've got real problems.

Then I would want to make it a powered tag.

Hmmm. How to make a high pinion 8.8" pass-thru axle to power the 8.8" tag axle.
If you look at the Spud Truck build, I think MORR has a solution for that too. Be some creative packaging, but possible?

My local junkyard has a 2002 4x4 Ranger. Nice truck, really - 4.0l, extended cab. Axle was just a normal open diff 4.10 ratio 8.8". I'll leave that there. I'm sure it's a 28 spline. So the shafts won't help me.

Man, I'd love to find a 2002 Ford Ranger FX4. Unfortunately, I'm poor and need another Ranger to spend money on as much as I need another manipulative, controlling, psychotic girlfriend.

If that bothers you run it as a tag...

Started replacing my air compressor today. I got the new bracket built, installed the compressor and did 90% of the plumbing. I need to make a tee fitting for the inlet hoses ((1) 1/2" port x (2) 3/8" ports). Connect the wiring and make a new splash gaurd to go between the compressor and the wheel area to keep mud and water away. Routed the inlet hose into the cab with a nice little filter on the end where the old one had been.

New bracket mounts to frame. The old compressor/bracket mounted to the inner fender and was flimsy.

that's the tee fitting I made. Two 3/8" NPT in and one 1/2" NPT out. Those are the intakes to the compressor heads which are diagonally opposite each other. The 1/2" comes from my little K&N intake filter on the dash.

But it's taking air from the cabin! How are you going to have enough air to breathe?!
 
i have had water that high before. was scared I was gonna drown young bob..
truck was floating and wanting to roll over with 44 gumbos on it.

my compressor pulled air from the engine intake snorkel.....

the tops of the back tires were bobbing out of the water and the hood was bobbing under .... very sketchy.
 
Big things coming in 2026! I'm going to earn my V8 swap merit badge. We offically have a donor. A running, driving 1996 Explorer Limited V8AWD followed me home this adternoon. Details later.

Jealous! If you weren't so dang far away I would try to get the drivers fender and hood from you... But they probably changed the shade of that white between '96 and '00 so wouldn't matter...

That should be a good donor, from what you've been talking about I imagine it's lowish miles but that drivetrain is pretty durable if taken care of... mine was more clapped out than I'd hoped but I figured most of it out...
