1990 ford ranger 300 swap in progress

there are several with zf 5 and doublers out there...

most have aod automatics or c6....and usually 2wd. very hard to make the aod happy with the aod....with a cutback kit and fixed psi its easier...
Not saying your wrong just never seen a build thread, post, etc out there on them. Just said to my knowledge. Granted I didn’t choose this route to be a “ 1/1build” I just don’t care for the zf5,and I like the 300 and have a ranger with no drivetrain and I refuse to run a big body lift 😅

None the less if you favor serviceability, hate body lifts and refuse to hack up the firewall or rad support you end up where I’m at lol. I’m sure I’ll iron out a solution for for now just get it all hung and see what works and most likely what doesn’t and go from there.

that turned out better than titties and ice cream.

definitely consider an over rail box or a jeep box....maybe even drop back to a push/pull setup.

you modified the firewall already....

or at least shitcanned the oem hvac. the ttb k member is a ghost....

easy peasy with those two things out of the way.

I’m changing back to non ac hvac lol that was just a lazy attempt to keep rodents out of the cab and water out while it sat for 5 yrs 😅

I don’t hate the idea of like a Toyota box or similar but I’m not sure it would be any better: but maybe. It’s something to look more into. Eitherway and thanks lol like I said I’m just trying to do the swap some justice.

Local dumb guy gonna chime in for a single post (that's me. I'm the dumb guy.).

To save some room on the front accessory drive and get some extra oomph pushing around the front rubber, look into the Volvo EPAS swap for your power steering. They'll run any steering box out there by just swapping it in place for your standard belt drive p/s pump. They are adjustable with a controller as well, so you can adjust the amount of assist you have from inside the cab with a rotary knob. When I initially did mine, no one had hacked the canbus system on it, and I ran mine in limp mode. Made 31s on a whooped 1988 steering box run very smoothly, even at 70mph on the highway (no more getting sucked into another lane when a tractor trailer would blow passed me)

Theyre $40 in the boneyard around here. Adjustable controller is just a pile of electronics parts, or ebay on the cheap. If you run them in limp, there's two 8 or 10 ga. wires to hook up on a relay to battery, and a single (grey) wire to hook up to key on. One metric hose, and you're done. It took me an afternoon to do when I did mine. Bonus is they can be remote located anywhere if you need room.

Ok. Dumb guy gonna go back to the back of the class and watch. 🙂

I believe I’d mentioned already I’d be running a Volvo pump as I refuse to pay 500$ for crackers to fit a Saginaw pump 😅

Want me to add you to the pull list?

@lil_Blue_Ford and I have a junkyard date at some point before winter. I can toss one in the wheelbarrow.

They have really come down on ebay as qell. Used to be over $400, now some entire kits with controller under $200

I appreciate it man but probs not lol I rarely have cash these days 😅 it’s a low need on the list right now as the engine won’t even be running until probably next fall or later lol

No I wish I could get it running sooner I have mostly everything to complete the fuel system but there is way too much right now that still needs done before winter before I concern myself with it running or moving
