Local dumb guy gonna chime in for a single post (that's me. I'm the dumb guy.).
To save some room on the front accessory drive and get some extra oomph pushing around the front rubber, look into the Volvo EPAS swap for your power steering. They'll run any steering box out there by just swapping it in place for your standard belt drive p/s pump. They are adjustable with a controller as well, so you can adjust the amount of assist you have from inside the cab with a rotary knob. When I initially did mine, no one had hacked the canbus system on it, and I ran mine in limp mode. Made 31s on a whooped 1988 steering box run very smoothly, even at 70mph on the highway (no more getting sucked into another lane when a tractor trailer would blow passed me)
Theyre $40 in the boneyard around here. Adjustable controller is just a pile of electronics parts, or ebay on the cheap. If you run them in limp, there's two 8 or 10 ga. wires to hook up on a relay to battery, and a single (grey) wire to hook up to key on. One metric hose, and you're done. It took me an afternoon to do when I did mine. Bonus is they can be remote located anywhere if you need room.
Ok. Dumb guy gonna go back to the back of the class and watch.
