1989 ford ranger 4x4 2.3 distributorless ignition problem

I also did a compression test on the culprit cylinder and I got 0 psi. The other cylinders had 120

Well, that would hamper performance quite a bit...did you add a bit of oil to see if the compression came up?

I really should check the compression on my #2 cylinder because I think the same thing happened to mine...but when I put in some Lucus Oil treatment I get it back up to almost normal power until the plug fouls again so maybe not as bad...

LOL but my valve seals are bad but with the 20 50 i have been running i been losing alot less just makes a little bit of tapping on the -12 we have been having. i cant wait to drop the motor i been building for the last few months. can you say 2.3t thank god. the power loss sucks im rolling 33's ugh hills of pa suck it

But at least the hills are scenic!

Turbo will give you more go for sure...and probably better on gas...a shame we can't recover the money we dump into oil...I think there should be a rebate from the government for us helping to keep the highways well oiled...lol
