Long story shot...I need a new intake.by some freak accident my truck rolled backwards while in gear causing my intake to explode.

I assume any year ohv 4.0 should work right. Also am I correct in assuming the sohc 4.0 wont work.

Thanks

A 98 would be ideal, but I think any OHV will work. The SOHC won't, you are right.

Do you know which 4.0 you have? There are 2 different motors.

asuming you have a 98, iam going to goahead and say you HAVE egr. so you would need a manifold from a 95-00 ranger/explorer with egr before they went to the soch4.0 . a 94 older intake wont work due to the fact that they are not egr and are alum but if you do not have egr then the alum intake would work great for you. just need to change the studs on the fuel rail the alum ones have shorter ones.

My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
Upper or lower?

I'm assuming upper. I've got one from a '95. $25 plus shipping.
Let me know if your interested and I'll get you some pics.

Ok so, my question is very similar, but i have a 94 4.0, i need a lower intake manifold, mine is corroded at the coolant ports too badly to bolt back on. Does anybody know which ones will work, ive seen several on eBay, but they all say to check casting numbers for interchange...? how do i do that? if any one knows which ones will/will not work, please let me know!

Thanks,

-Kevin

please explain how rolling backwards could cause an intake to explode. im not saying it didnt happen, ive just had a couple drinks and cant think as to how that is possible at the moment

I'm guessing it was in a forward gear. I've pop started mine in reverse. Dunno if it is bad but it worked either way.

actually all 1994 Explorers have aluminum intakes and EGR, but the sensors are all different due to the differences between EEC4 and EEC5 wiring.

1995 up is correct, but you are half wrong because you cite the wrong reason, you get a "B". good try though...

my truck rolled backwards in first and nothing bad happened. of course it only rolled a couple of feet but i still dont understand how it could blow up an intake
