What does Ford think the Maverick is for?

I am looking at a Maverick because it will do everything that my '88 single cab 4x4 will do and the whole family will fit in it. I think either the Tremor package or an FX4 with a 2" lift and some AT tires will be more than enough to get me around in the winter, I would be shocked it if was not MORE capable than my '88... and it's just a tiny bit bigger/longer.

I looked at a couple new Rangers too but they are huge. My F150 feels more nimble in tight spaces... I have better visibility in my extended cab, long box F250 than I did driving a crew cab Ranger. Driving the new Ranger felt like sitting inside an airplane and looking out those tiny little windows.

In our paint shop, here at BMW in Greer, SC, ...

i love going to bmw north america. that plant is so awesome. i have been tdy twice to honeywell greer and have gone to bmw and taken the tour each time. that room where the cars are put on the dynos (i think they are dynos) when they are done being assembly is so cool but the paint section is really awesome to see. i was very impressed both times i have been to that area. i always tell everyone who is going tdy out there to stop in and take that tour.

and i would love to do the spartanburg pick up but that a whole lot money i don't have just to go on the track, ha ha ha

Being that a boat is a 6'x25' (depending) hole in the water that one throws money into, I wouldn't plan on it either.

The latter part is a pretty good corollary to the window setup. Especially the rear window. The driving factor is probably looks and aerodynamics.

At least a white truck is the easiest to change color, clean, sand, repaint. Whenever I need a panel replacement (like the escape back hatch or when the tailgate on the ‘93 ranger went) I get a j/y part thats white to paint the right color.

Chill. Different strokes for different folks.
Besides that, The technology is common now, that allows manufacturers to offer many, many colors. In our paint shop, here at BMW in Greer, SC, we ocan load a system with a custom color to paint just one car. The possibilities are great. If you have the money, you can get almost any color you want right from the manufacturer.

Oh I'm just foolin for the most part. I do appreciate the look of a non metallic paint on some things.... I like the fancy stuff more though

My point is the crowd who buys a truck just to say they have a truck and dont really need a truck shouldnt of being the ones being catered to.

Yeah yeah follow the money whatever...but if you truely want a truck, regardless of if you need one or not, you should be willing to accept the shortcomings that make it a truck suited to a purpose.

So then that way those of us who actually want a serious truck would be able to get one without spending ridiculious sums of money, or buying a product thats supposed to be meant for a certain segment who has to now deal with shortcomings because people who had no business buying one in the first place has dictated market direction.

All trucks right down to the ranger should be built similar to the superduty only getting smaller in size and capacity. No 5.5ft boxes, no independen front ends, etc etc.

Just my take. If you really need a truck like one of you said drive your camry to home depot and rent one for 20 bucks.

And, here we go. So that you can have what you determine to be a real truck, I have to haul my grass clippings in the back of my SUV, which gets the interior dirty. I haul grass clippings every two weeks in the summer. So it's either that, or I drive 300 miles round trip to Home Depot, spend $20.00 to rent the truck, drive home, cut the lawn, haul the grass clippings to where I dump them, then is another 300 mile round trip to return the truck to Home Depot and pick up my small SUV. That's 10 hours on the road every two weeks, Rusty. Just because you think I shouldn't be buying a truck because you don't approve of what I need that truck to be.

For the record, I would probably be a typical Maverick buyer. Ranger and F150 are too bulky. I need the capability of a truck, but I can only afford one vehicle, and I also need the capability of a comfortable, nimble highway cruiser. I just don't have a family to haul. The Maverick is perfect. Like I said, it ticks all the boxes for me. Now, if I could just get an AWD hybrid. And you have the <censored> guts to tell me that I should just go buy an Escape because it ticks all the boxes EXCEPT the open, metal lined (easily cleaned) cargo area, and rent a truck from Home Depot when I need a truck.

I said to rent a truck when you need it… I actually said to rent a bigger truck when (or if) you need it, because I feel the Maverick has a place and purpose. But sometimes you need something bigger.
Maybe HomeDepot isn’t exactly the place for you to rent it from. Might want to look for something closer if you need a bigger truck.

I have a mulching mower, actually. But, I prefer to bag my clippings. My dad always did. He always felt his lawn looked better because he bagged the clippings.

No need to argue with me. I say buy what fits your needs 99% of the time and rent IF you need something bigger. Don’t worry about what someone else calls it, they can call it a truck, a fake truck, an unfinished SUV, or even damn cheeseburger.

The Maverick is for those who don’t really want a truck but want to look like they have a truck. Mainly city people who occasionally need to haul a stove or refrigerator.

I don't think it can do that.
