My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Well, If Ford makes 80 percent of the trucks Crew cab, then obviously they're going to sell more crew cabs. Crew Cabs are more expensive than Reg Cabs, so we get the numbers in and see more people are buying Crew Cabs. Why would they make a bunch of low cost, low profit trucks, when they can sell a bunch of Crew Cabs. Then they say, "Nobody's buying inexpensive Reg Cab trucks anymore".

Same thing with all the grey paint colors.

This isn't exactly sound logic IMO. It's similar to feminazis claiming most of men's sexual desires are only there because porn has brainwashed us lol.

If crew cabs sell better than single cabs, why in the world would ford want to make a bunch of single cabs to fill their dealer lots with?

Same thing with paint color.. when buying a new vehicle resale value is on the mind of a lot of buyers. Vehicles with generic colors like the grays have been shown to have a larger market/hold value better than the stupid yellows and hot pepper reds.. so thats what people are more likely to choose.

Again.. when most people want a gray.. why would they bother expanding the color palate?

Someone who makes money on selling crap to the general public, knows what their customers are buying. That's what they make.

But you can still buy an XL and not get “all that junk”. 95% of our county trucks are XLs. We get a lot of the F550s with manual windows, basic radios, split bench seats, etc. The F250s are usually supervisor trucks, so they have power windows and locks. They’re still XLs, and they’re cheap.
I personally love all that junk - I will put that on the record. I will never purchase another vehicle that does not have a heated steering wheel and anyone who thinks they arent worth the money lives in florida or is fooling themselves. Fleet vehicles make their money in volume, not in margins. Ford makes their money on the Platinum edition gentleman farmer who tows his boat 3x a year. You're not going to find XLs on a dealer lot - all that stuff is special ordered for a fleet - nobody actually wants those vehicles, they're dictated to you.

Actually it looks like plain ol gray might be finally fading away. Thankfully it looks like non metallic colors might be making a comeback.

I love my crew cab F-150, I will probably drop the cc after kids are done but it beats the tar out of the car seat in the front and the wife crammed in the back seat with the dogs in my old Supercab, or driving seperate if we need the truck and family if I had a regular cab.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I was thinking ford might intend the maverick to be a hip car (thus the pic in post 1), but most owners are gray haired types. Seems they’re trying to force the maverick into a market that won’t accept it. It’s just not trucky enough for people who want but don’t need a truck. I’d argue that its capabilities are exactly in line with the original ranger… but ford deemed 4 doors to be more useful than a long bed. The new extended cab ranger fits those who want an original ranger.
Ford is trying to sell it to the younger generation. They don’t need to market to the older generation. They know what they want and will buy accordingly.

I like having the options too. That’s why I’m ordering a Ranger Lariat Tremor.

I’m stuck with a crew cab as long as my daughter is living at home. Maybe I’ll switch to a supercab after that, but I’ll never go back to a regular, I can’t lean the seat back, cab.

Non metallic colors!? What is this... 19..something? Jeesh.

We shouldn't be going backwards. Paint should have meteor dust and shit in it by now. Or lumilor.. anything other than plain ol paint.

Same.

One standard cab is enough for me.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Chill. Different strokes for different folks.
Besides that, The technology is common now, that allows manufacturers to offer many, many colors. In our paint shop, here at BMW in Greer, SC, we ocan load a system with a custom color to paint just one car. The possibilities are great. If you have the money, you can get almost any color you want right from the manufacturer.

I’m not spending time tracking down quotes for this response…

I hate grays. I’ll take the grand or two hit to have a nice color. Honda’s midnight or twilight blue pearl that sometimes looks purple (available on accord sport) is the best blue I’ve seen.

I was somewhat close to choosing a new tundra when shopping for a full-size. I could build it the way I wanted for 60k, but they aren’t putting 360 cameras in trucks less than 80k at the moment. And I wanted it in brown I think… which is worst for resale.

Heated seats are a must for the wife (in a new vehicle) but the heated wheel in her Camaro never really got use.

I can see why single cabs are rare. I’d want AT LEAST a 10k discount over a cc. Fortunately all the modern single cabs have the same front seat dimensions as cc- no difference in tracks like the old rangers. A base cc f150 with power locks and cruise is like 40k+ after all the addon fees tho. That’s why I opted for a $10k, 30yo Ram Cummins. It’ll outlast a new ford even at that age… the engine at least.

Going back to the original point of this thread for a second…

Ford didn’t need to even advertise the Maverick. They sold out for the year and closed the order banks in under a week. It’s obvious that the Maverick checked enough of the right boxes to fit a lot of peoples lifestyles.

Ok, you can go back to arguing about the feral cat population along the Bukit Gasing Hiking Trail in Kuala Lumpur now… or whatever this thread has been highjacked to.

I think automakers still advertise so they remain relevant when things go back to normal. The local Hyundai dealer is almost back to normal. You can get any car any trim within about a month… except for palisades and hybrid Sonatas... And limited color options

Obviously it’s just to piss you off.

This thread is about the USELESS Maverick. Please redirect your comment to the STUPID Lightning thread.
Thank you for your cooperation.
