Before Biden took office... you could buy it by the case. Not anymore.

The only shotgun ammo I've seen in stores in the last couple years was 10ga.

Ammo prices were so high, and I've been pretty busy. So I have been avoiding shooting all together.

They opened an indoor range at the gun shop down the street and I've been wanting to go check it out, just can't justify spending the money to shoot a case of .45s anymore.

Shotgun ammo is the only thing that has stayed constant in the last two years around here.
Send some this way... I haven't seen a single box of 410 shells in almost two years. Even 12 gauge was hard to find but it is coming back although at double the price... 100 round boxes of bird shot used to be $19.99 at Walmart, they were gone totally for about a year and now are back on occasion but no thanks, $35!!!

I have dialed back on shooting too. I shoot the 22s a lot more now than I used to. I used to say reloading helped when ammo was scarce, as I typically could source components even when commercial stuff was scarce. But now that's out too. I haven't seen primers for sale for two years, and the price has gone completely nuts. My last brick of primers I bought was $38.99 a few years ago. The price tag on the empty spot on the shelf the last time I looked was $129!

Wally had one box of Federal and one box of Winchester SuperX 20 gauge game loads... $11.00 a box. I passed for now.

I did pick up some more SuperX hollow point 22lr for 9 cents a round...

According to the clerk at the counter... wally no longer sells handgun ammo. He was totally clueless about anything I asked though.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Don't you just love a company who's willing to lose out on profits because they'd rather do virtue signaling 😅

I'm good for at least another season of skeet before I need to buy more 12 gauge shells. I have watched .22LR prices fall from ~$40/box of 325 to around $25 now in the last 6 months so shotgun shells are not far behind, should be pretty smooth sailing if the Dims lose in November.

I have looked everytime I'm out and still can't find any 40S&W rounds. I also want a new double 20 to small game hunt with my new beagle... haven't found any 20 gauge game loads in nearly 2 years. Not buying the gun if I can't buy simple bird shot.
Cabelas in Dundee had a decent amount last week. picked up 2 boxes of 100 165 grain.

I got a 20ga pump last year (made by Rock Island, their "all generation" deal that has a stack of random features, hey $200 wasn't bad) and luckily then ammo was available so I grabbed what I could, shortly after that all ammo disappeared and about the only shotgun ammo available was 28ga for whatever reason... Now things are coming back but I have enough buffer for a while... annoyingly a couple boxes I bought because it was available was #9 shot, that stuff will not puncture the hide of a gopher as it turns out, fine for clay pigeons but that wasn't the purpose of the dang thing... At this point it's gotten at least 30 gophers I think, I lost count a long time ago... I've had a handful of times where the firing pin didn't come all the way out and get the primer hard enough but I'm not feeding a freezer so I'm not too worried, still a good yard gun...

I like being on the low side of things, I used to use a 12ga for gophers but they kick a bit more than I'd like for yard use, 20ga is a good compromise... heck, you guys have probably seen my pellet gun thread, I need to get more trigger time, I missed the last gopher by a little...

Crossed threads are tight threads.
Ammo will pop up here and there, then go quick. You had good luck there....or good timing.

Dumbest one a couple months ago was when the cherries were about ripe, the birds were being super jerks so I had a pellet gun in hand (cool one, but still... got about 15 of some random type of bird couple days prior), shotgun was on the camp chair 30 yards away, watching for birds I see something out of the corner of my eye, it was a pocket gopher crawling around munching on the yard about 5 yards away from me... had the hold over off by about 1/2" but the thing didn't survive, only crawled a few inches to back into his hole... most of my gophers have been within about 1.5 acres and I got over 20 last year, up to around 10 this year and there's still at least 8 after my walk tonight... they're not active when I'm able to go after them due to either weather or work mostly...
