This dude sold me a truck recently, he's actually a pretty nice guy once you meet him you should all be his friennnnnnnd.

For starters, before I tell you what it is I know some of you are going to say "BAD IDEA" and a lot of you are going to talk down on it. Whatever, it gets me from point A to point B for 1/16th the price of what a Ranger with the same stats would have got me. I got an insane deal so I jumped.

Yeah, you guessed it. It's a Chevy. *gasp*

Anyway, here's the specs.

It's a 2000 Chevy S10. Stepside, regular cab. Powered by the Vortech 4.3l V6 and an automatic. Came with a sweet tonneau cover over a bed lined bed. Seats have adjustable lumbar support which is awesome, not to mention AC, CD player, keyless ignition, etc etc you get the picture. It's a comfort truck more than anything. However it still has manual locks and windows, which is cool as well since then there's less crap to break.

It's going to be replacing my Ranger as my daily driver. No, not replacing it as my truck but just something for me to drive around in. I still have my ranger, I'm not selling, scrapping, or otherwise maiming it beyond repair. If anything, I have tons of extra time to modify and fix my Ranger, not particularly in that order of course.

I will also need (of course) to get the S10 in tip top shape to begin. Then hopefully some minor aesthetic mods will follow. I had considered performance mods but the gas mileage is already poor enough (ha) and there really is no point in modifying an engine that I could spend thousands on and not meet the performance of a barely built V8 LS series engine that would swap right in.

Planned mods are : Aftermarket lighting, sun roof, tint, leather seats (unless I find black cloth), custom grill, and some utility based mods like a hitch. Probably a stereo and some subs as well, if the stock stereo doesn't perform well. I like a USB stereo anyway so it will probably go out.

Anyway, photos will be up shortly. I'm reserving the post directly UNDER this one for such. Photos should be up around 3.

Took me a bit longer to get home than I had thought. Had to hang a crossarm on a utility pole today. Pics are up now though!

Nah, I have the anti-theft cd player in mine. Took me a while to figure out how it worked lol. Eventually I'm going to put in either my pioneer from the Ranger, or a newer pioneer stereo.

I didn't like it at first, but once I drove it.. well.. I'll keep blasphemy out of The Ranger Station. :icon_thumby:

Anyways, I've been tracking my MPG's and on the last 118 miles I got 23.2 MPG. I don't believe it, so I'll keep tracking it and get rid of that figure if the others are far away from it. I'm expecting numbers closer to 17.

I paid a fair amount, fair to me anyway. :derisive:

My MPG's so far are telling me about 23mpg, but I know that's not right.

I'm already loving the power, living in Delaware county I'm gonna need it. It's all hills and mountains out here, gorgeous, but it kills driving on them.

Well it's not that bad so far, I have tons of leg room and head room. More than what I had in an older S10 I rode around in. Only thing I don't like is I don't have room to tilt my seat back, but it's comfortable as it is.

79 ford in the background = boner. if i were you id be DDing that
and that s10 actually looks really nice. good find kota
I drive 1000 miles a week, 8-10 mpg just wont cut it lol.

That's strictly a work only truck, not to mention it's my dads.

And thanks!

Did some research and found out that 03+ S10's came with the double din dash strait from the factory. I'll be hitting up the JY in search of one of those. I'm also going to cannibalize my mounts for my cathodes and LED's from my Ranger, since I never got around to wiring it up anyway. Gotta find a switch location that looks good though, it's the only thing I hate about dashes without sharp edges.
