i am doing a 3.0l to 4.0l swap in my 97. i have a manual transmission and a manual transfer case. so i need to get the 4.0l engine pcm. of course the dealership wants the vin which will get me nowhere. so is there anyone that there that has the same setup that can give the number off their pcm that i can use to find a pcm for my truck. any other info is welcome. if i could use other pcm's let me know. but the closet the factory the better.

the grey-t escape
if you dont know, you'll need a manual trans with the 4.0 bellhousing pattern, just beacause its a V6 trans doesnt mean it'll fit. heres something i copied from anopther post:
Bellhousing identification simplified:

TWO bolt starter mounting on the drivers side = 2.8/2.9/4.0

Three bolt starter mounting on the drivers side = 3.0

Three bolt starter mounting on the PASSENGER side = 2.0/2.3/2.5 SOHC "Lima" 4cyl engine.

And I've got no fookin clue what the 2.3DOHC bellhousing looks like.

ok i finally figured it out. so i will post the info in case anyone ever needs the same info.
97 ranger 4.0l 4x4 manual transmission pcm code is F77F-12A650-ACB which later was updated to F77F-12A650-ACC. so both of those will work for that configuration of a 97 ranger.

That is an "engineering number" more than it is an emissions code.

the code you REALLY want if you are simply looking for the correct
computer is the four digit code that's printed on the right side of the label
in larger characters.
