I poop in the furnace.
The hubs are vacuum operated. They suck and never work. Could just be a broken vacuum line but they are unreliable.

Long story short.... Bought the truck in 2001 was my DD untill 2015 then sat until 3 week ago .....not my DD now
I cut the center from the hub to make them click in and out but now they will not move....
Not sure I like the idea of always locked..
Truck will never see hard 4x4 but I really like on the fly 4x4

Ford switched Rangers to always locked in 2001, no "hub", wheel is bolted to axle, so you just have a 2001 setup now :)

"On the fly" still works, hubs locked or unlocked never mattered for that part, but obviously the front wheels need to be locked to axles for 4WD to work, lol, but shifting between 2WD and 4high will still work on the fly

Live axle "always locked" kills mpg but beats vacuum hubs by a long shot in my opinion.
