My 347 Ranger is running with high under hood temps. Wrapped the branches which was a huge improvement. It sometimes runs rough when under hood temps rise. No overheating issues on the engine temp stays at 80deg C. When the fan comes on it blows exstream hot air over the engine. Pusher fan in front of rad. Carb set up 670 Holley Truck Avenger.

Sounds like it may be trying to get vapor locked.

Could add some nice hood louvers :)

Do a vacuum test to make sure exhaust is not restricted.

Assume distributor??
Coils do not like to get too hot, coil will cause mis-fires when overheated.

Could add some vents to rad support so cooler air is pushed up toward hood to get the warmer air pushed out.

Pusher fans make for a hot spot in the middle of the radiator area that the fan motor is located, always use a draw thru unless there is no way to do it, given your location and use of your truck you can shim up the back of the hood to allow air to escape like some of the import turbo guys due, it allows hot air to rise and escape at the back, up the winshield, can be done with washers or there are kits to do it, also insulate yor fuel line, and last if you have room you can make a sort of baffle in back of the radiator to direct air down, and you can shim the fan so that hot air is directed down

Thanks guys but `n have a radiator shield deflecting hot air. Thinking my Mallory 75 series with built in coil might not like the heat. Louvers in the hood might be an option but I am afraid to ruin a hood not available in SA. Our summer temp sours up to a max of 43deg C.

Pic shows deflector.

The carb is the problem. The fuel ia vaporizing too soon and not getting good delivery to the end cylinders.

Go to a dual carb or efi setup.
