Ok i need help fast and correct i cleaned my maf, aic and throttle body on thursday. Now today all of a sudden my engine started sputtering and wont drive very well(keeps missing)??. I took it to oriellys and the comp said misfure at 1000rpm and also something with misfire 6 cylinder. It drove fine the last two days and even on the way to work today. When it starts up it is at 1000 then drops down to 500-750 on the tach. please let me know what to do. Im thinking i have fouled # 6 plug i did find a rub mark on wire 4 and i did use seafoam to clean throttle body, maf cleaner on the maf, and brake clean on aic. It us a 4.0 in my 2005 fx4. Please help as i need to drive it home from work tonight and its like 24 miles. Like i said this just happened to me, it drove great the day i cleaned everything and on the way to work today.. I forgot to tell you i am afraid to drive this home will i make it????? Dont want to overheat the engine. I did when I put in the seafoam for the throttlebody clean, the friggin tube was pointing down the air tube so I have seafoam in air box on the bottom under filter, not alot but some. So I am going to reclean the MAF,AIC,& not touch the throttlebody. Did I Foul the Plugs with the seafoam or what. I plan on changing the wires and plugs tomorrow as well.

have you checked your vacuum hoses?
Thursday to Saturday is a long time for something to "just happen" from the outcome of something you did 3 days ago.

have you pulled the plugs to see what they look like?
is the check engine light on?

Yes check engine light is on...sometimes flashing sometimes solid. I am going to change all plugs tomorrow and wires. Re clean the MAF, & iac unit. The only thing I can think of is I have a fouled plug in #6. When I was just about home it ran really good then went back to the crappy missing and such. Do I have a plugged injector, or just fouled plugs??

Did you allow the sensors to properly dry before reinstalling and if you seafoamed the throttle body and theres seafoam in the intake, there is probably seafoam all over the intake tube and filter. Maybe the MAF got coverd with that. Also I would check the tightness of your plugs and fittings, possibly didn't get one all the way back in and it is working its way loose

just off the top of my head.... when you unplugged the sensors, was the battery still connected. at the very least, you should have pulled the ECM fuse from the power center.

I'm going to guess, a fried computer, BUT. try erasing ALL the memory codes KOEO and KOER, as well as the Current set of codes, and let the computer get a fresh go at things.

A random flash AND sometimes on, on the CEL, could mean a loose or dirty connector......

Flashing CEL means a misfire that is severe enough to damage the cats has been detected.

Now I have a few questions for you.

1) How warm was the engine when you seafoamed it?

2) How much did you put in and how fast?

3) How fast were you running the engine?

4) What did you clean the MAF with?

I'd check the plugs, make sure they are not fouled, and if they are replace them, if not, just leave them be. Run the bugger at 2500 RPM for a few minutes and see if it starts to clear up.

If it sucked up too much seafoam at once it will pool in the intake and cause tons of issues, assuming it doesn't get into a cylinder and hydrolock the engine.

Ok gang, I re-cleaned everything out, changed Plugs (none were fouled) changed wires and also cleaned out the air tube and air box of the excess seafoam that got in there. So the moment came to start it up, and IT RUNS GREAT!!!!!!!! Don't know which item we tackled today did it, but it is all better. No check engine light or surging either. So after that I decided since I was having a blessed day, my son and I installed my driving lights on th e front (pics coming). Thanks alll for your suggestions.
