Hi how is it going. I am new to this forum..and new to the ranger truck. I just bought a 1989 xlt supercab 4x4 5sp. I just put in a new clutch. In the process of fixing my coolant leak and oil leak. The truck only has 113k miles on it. which is great for the year. Ultimately I want to make this thing trail worthy. I just noticed the ranger has Ifs..:/. I would tihnk a truck of its age would come straight axled..but I was wrong lol. So I am gearing towards an axle swap. I realize this is a pretty serious job. Knowing this I was trying to get some suggestions on what axle, and type of setup other people have ran. I would prefer something that doesn't require me to cut and weld up. Are there any axles that bolt up? Do I have to lose the coils and put leafs up front when I do the swap? If you guys could help me out that would be great!

Thanks
Kevin

It's not IFS, it's TTB (twin traction beam) which is fords solution to bad ride characterisitcs. They more or less made a dual beam axle that has the same components as a monobeam axle with much better ride quality.

These suspensions are very capable if built right.

Welcome to the forums and while you're here, search around the tech library (listed above) for more information on this axle.
