My credo
Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
I got a Bushnell light for Christmas last year. It takes 8 AA batteries. 4 each in a small cartridge double stacked in the handle. Can't remember the Model # rn, but with fresh batteries, that thing will light up the night sky. It has a few settings - Regular, Dim, Emergency (flashes SOS in Morris code) and Strobe. It looks similar to a Mag light used by Law enforcement, but not as heavy. I've dropped it, drove over it with my D21, left it outside for a few nights. It's pretty durable.

This is my favorite work light, made by energizer. Has magnets on the back, and a hook that slides out of the top. Takes four AA batteries.

I have accidently left it wedged in the coil spring of an escape and then drove around wondering where that light was coming from under the car. Still works, just shaped like a banana now.
