A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
Been a few years since some bastard stole my 3 D-cell maglite... which besides its heft and mechanical sturdiness, was never that impressive in the lumens dept., with its little incandescent bulb...

... seems there was a period when every other YouTube ad was for some uber-duper flashlight that could illuminate the entire AstroDome (or burn through steel) with 2 D-cells... but now I can't remember the names of them...

What say ye RKIs? What do you carry into the deep woods to scare Bigfoot?

While it's probably not the latest greatest light on the market... My BIL has had one of these for awhile now. It really impresses me. Seems every year there is a flashlight war at deer camp. Someone shows up with a new flashlight and my BIL quickly puts it to shame with his streamlight. I may break down and buy one myself... price is down from what I remember last time I looked.

I bought a Milwaukee M12 tool set and it came with one of their LED flashlights. I seriously like that light but the jury is still out on longevity. The pivot head is priceless...

That streamlight is nice. I have one at work that takes 2 AA batteries and I like it.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
There's so many awesome flashlights now that LEDs have gotten good.

Honestly, I really like my cheapo Ozark trail light I got from WaltonWorld for like 30 bucks 6 or 7 years ago. Takes 3 aaa, does 250-300 lumes (I forget), sweet "tactical" bezel to smash someone's face with. Not a bad unit... but not 100% either. There must be the start of a loose connection somewhere because it flickers slightly every so often.

I keep meaning to get one of the sweet LED conversions for my big Maglite I got from @Uncle Gump awhile back.. but they're expensive lol. It's kinda down there on the list.

Don't we have a flashlight thread somewhere?

The wife, son and I all have Klarus XT10 lights. They can use 3 different types of batteries - we use 18650 li-ion type. They are what I call "prison break" bright! Also has a low mode that you can use in the car to read maps without destroying your retinas, and has a disorienting strobe to shine in someone's eyes if you need to. Very well made and the orange peel lens gives you both a very bright spot plus throws enough light to the sides to really light up a trail. When I used to commute on my bike I would mount mine on the handlebars. I was able to see the road even with oncoming traffic lights. You have to buy a speciak charger for the batteries but with the family having the same light it isn't a big deal and we keep a few batteries around charged for when we need them. Light is discontinued but you can find them on close out still.
Lots of folks mount these to their guns and you can get a remote on/off switch if you do.

The one he has uses the CR123A batteries. But I don't doubt the one you have work great on 2AA batteries.

He always uses those batteries... they do sell a rechargeable battery for it too. He said something about those and he didn't like it and stays with the regular batteries. He buys a 10 pack for about $15 and has batteries for the entire year.

True, but Florida does have their own sub species of Bigfoot known as the skunk ape which is adapted to living in the heat.

I've carried a lot of flashlights in my day. My hands down favorite that I carry now is the Pelican 7600 rechargeable flashlight. It has a hi/low setting, strobe, as well as a red and green light setting. Super bright. I bought the wand and holster kit for it. The wand diffuses the light so I can use it as a lantern when I'm camping.
