So I’ve got a 1993 2.3 in my 1992 ranger, and I’ve deleted the EGR. Will I have to go into the computer and tune it so it idles better? It still is reading for EGR stuff, but it’s deleted.

Also, I have an o2 sensor but can’t find the wiring to it. Will I need to either tune it so it doesn’t read it, or find the wiring and plug it in.

Computer needs the O2 sensor feed back, you need to find the round 4 wire connector, period
Or switch to a carburetor
Computer controlled fuel injection NEEDS sensors, several of them

Did the 1992 2.3l have an EGR system?
If not then no issues deleting EGR on the 1993 engine
EGR or no EGR is strictly a computer issue
Computers setup for EGR system can run a more agressive spark advance because less chance of pinging/knocking on 87 octane gasoline

If the 1992 did have EGR system then you will need to get a matching non-EGR computer or live with the CEL(check engine light) being on all the time

original truck did have the egr system, so I’ll be on the lookout for the non egr computer or I’ll just unplug the CEL.
What do the connectors look like for the o2 sensors? I need to see if I have the wiring.

Google: 1992 Ford Ranger 2.3l O2 sensor

You can see its 4 wire connector, truck side will be same type, usually round often found between firewall and head on exhaust side
O2 sensors come with a 1 to 2ft wire attached, so the truck side harness wires are not that long

Probably will just replace the o2 sensor then, because the o2 sensor itself, the wire on it is only about 6 inches long.

Could I get a link on a good place to buy an o2 sensor? One that preferably has decent length wiring.

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

Buy Motorcraft or Bosch.

The O2 sensor for a '97 has at least 18" of wire, the connector is right behind the valve cover for some reason...

I guess I’ll use one of them.

Is that the upstream one or downstream one? Mine only has one o2 sensor total.

The long one is the upstream sensor, it's the only one I changed anyway (it's the most important anyway...)
