I would be more inclined to think its a seizing tie rod end or ball joint.

The balljoints connect the steering knuckle to the upper and lower control arms.

The tie rod ends connect your steering rack to the steering knuckles.

The easiest way to check this is to have someone slowly turn the wheel back and forth while you listen to the balljoints/tie rod ends with a mechanics stethoscope. Where you hear the loudest source of noise is where the problem lies.

If they are seizing they will need to be replaced.

If you have a limited slip differential, they will sometimes make strange noises when you are turning at slow speeds.

if its in the steering, do what sasquach says to do. if its braking, could be a brake caliper or slider is sticking as well.

Failing is easy. Everyone can do it.

Take it to a shop and ask for one of the under car checks. Most shops do this still for free in the hopes you'll have them do the repairs.

Could be any number of things- including any rubber mounts used that have dried out a bit. Best for piece of mind to get it checked.
