Hello everyone I am new to the site. I have a 97 Ford Ranger and I swapped out the automatic transmission for a 5 speed tyranny. I am now getting a TCC and I am not sure on how to fix the issue since there is no converter anymore.

Yup, the computer will always be looking for the automatic so not much you can do besides ignore it or get the right computer.

Welcome to TRS :)

Yes, as said above the Computer(ecm, or PCM) in your 1997 has software inside for shifting the automatic transmission, when you changed to a manual, you disconnected the wires to the automatic so computer is letting you know that there is a problem with the wiring
There is no "resistor" or wiring work around, you would need a 1997 computer from a manual Ranger with SAME SIZE engine
2WD or 4x4 doesn't matter, engine size matters

Driving around with the CEL on is not the end of the world, but if you had another engine problem you would know about it unless you read the codes daily
