I am SAS'ing my 99' Ranger with a 4.0 with an auto tranny sooner or later (manual tranny someday). I have a set of 36x12.50x15 TSL Radials I am going to run. I am torn between 4.88s and 5.13s. This rig is/will be my daily driver so I want to gain back some fuel economy (4.10 gears and 33s has been getting me about 12 at best) as well as decent performance. I talked to a gentleman with an exploder who was getting between 15-17 mpg with 5.13s (which i could definitely live with and would be fantastic). I want to see what anybody else has gotten with 36s for fuel econ with 4.88s? How is the performance with the 4.88s? I did the calculator in the tech library and it pointed to 4.88s. I am just looking for some other opinions. Anybody got anything? I do some highway driving occasionally so that needs to be considered.
- thanks for any input fellas.
Edit: Wow, I'm such a n00b. If a mod sees this, can you move this to a more appropriate forum, like general? If not, I'll contact somebody.
