I have an 02 4x4 xlt 4L V6 with 31x10.5xr15 tires. It seems to me that I have plenty of room for bigger tires, though.

If I crank the torsion bars ~1" and install a rear add-a-leaf, will I have room for 33x10.5xr15 tires? If not, will rubbing only be on the easily trim-able plastic bumper? I just don't see how a taller 10.5 would rub anywhere else as long as I give it the extra inch on top.

Insight appreciated...

Have any rubbing at full lock?

I would think you could get away with it, I have 32x11.50's on my truck with just a torsion crank and about 1.5" lift in back. I get some rubbing on the inner fender liner at close to full lock and I had to trim back the bumper plastic a little but, but otherwise no issues.

I run 10.5x33-15" tires on my 02 Ranger with the factory Alcoa wheels. I have a 1.5" T-bar lift and it sits close stock in the rear. I had to bend the front mud flap brackets a little to get clearance at near full turn. I also pulled the front left fender liner back slightly. I get no rubbing and I take it in some pretty rough places off-road. I even disconnect the sway bar to get maximum suspension travel. No trimming was required.

I got more rubbing when I had the 11.5x32-15" tires on it but that was very minimal.
