Although... the morning coffee routine is getting to be a bit of a hassle for me. We started with the classic percolator, then got turned onto the French press.. but now.. I'm heavily considering just bringing a damn coffee pot along and getting an inverter for my truck. SIMPLIFY... right? a coffee pot is even worse for packability than the folding oven.. but holy moly it would make getting coffee'd up in the morning a TON easier. It's a trade-off I'm definitely willing to explore.

The advantage of a French press is that it uses less energy, ie propane, if that’s an issue. Disadvantage is that it doesn’t make very much coffee at once.
I’m looking at folding camp kitchens now for a little more storage space and working room.

My camping tip for saving space is Dr. Bronner’s Soap. Body wash, shampoo, shaving cream, and hand wash your clothes all in one. Says so right on the label. Some grocery stores have it, Amazon, I got a travel size bottle at L.L. Bean. When we went on a cruise this year I only packed three pair of underwear and socks, just hand washed them in the bathroom sink with the Dr. Bronner’s.

I like the quality of brew that a French press provides... but they're all 96 ounces too small it seems like lol

Ah that's not bad. The French press we had was glass and naturally broke after our first season with it lol.. made me wonder If any were available in a sturdier material.

Mine is plastic with a removable thermal sleeve on the outside.

I use to use a French press every day at home. Was nice since I didn’t have to buy filters for a drip pot. Mine made a little more then two mugs worth, so it was fine for one person.

wife hated it so she went out and bought a drip pot machine. So we use that now. Takes up a bunch of space on the counter so I may as well get some use out of it.

Use an aluminum Coleman percolator when camping. Can make 4/5 cups of coffee. Only trick with that is using coffee with a more coarse grind than you see in most popular coffees. The chock full of nuts I usually buy is almost like espresso it’s so fine, and it makes a big mess in the perc.

I've had a 32oz yeti tumbler for the last few years, so I'm very accustomed to at least that much coffee at a time..

And camping just inherently requires more coffee.. I always sleep like crap and wake up way too early.. this is why I really want to build that stupid little camper.. I'll sleep better and thus save money on coffee

You have one of those inflatable sleeping pads?

I bought a couple last winter and just used them for the first time. Even with the rocky lumpy ground I slept great. Not comparable to a super soft memory foam mattress, but it was very comfortable. Slept like a sack of rocks when camping at Carlisle. woke up around my normal time instead of butt crack of dawn like I normally would.
