Radiator hoses.

I highly recommend the use of T-Bolt clamps on everything. In my opinion, every worm drive hose clamp should be thrown in the trash.

Today I got the drivetrain all back together and got all the fluids in. I need to figure out the fuel lines and then I can finally start this thing.

I also scored the interior pieces that I needed at the local pick n pull. Single cab second gen interiors in decent shape and the right color aren't easy to come by! Like most, my truck came from the factory without any of this. No headliner, no rear panels or carpet. It'll be nice having an actual interior and rear speakers.

Picked up some fuel lines today. Snagged them off a single cab short bed 4.0 truck. They're in much better shape than the hose clamped trash that was on there previously.

I should be able to start it today. Progress has slowed to a crawl because it's about 1,000 degrees outside. Bleh.

Had some header wrap lying around so I wrapped the Y pipe and installed the new O2 sensor. The only things left are the rest of the exhaust and putting the interior together. So close!

Welded up this piece in order to run an aftermarket cat with a circular pipe input. I cut the old pipe off close to the flange which left me with an oval pipe, so I grabbed a 3" - 2.5" adapter and compressed the 3" side into an oval. I'll weld on the muffler tomorrow and the exhaust will be done.

I can't be the only one that hates how the shift boot is screwed down; 4 sheet metal screws that like to strip out and are a bitch to put back in.

Well today I fixed that. Welded 4 threaded studs to the floor plate and will be putting washers and nuts on the top.

Also got the new shift knob installed by welding a threaded stud to the shift rod

Also made a switch panel for the electric fan, fog lights and the adjustment knob for the electric power steering. I got rid of the ash tray and added a usb charging port

Well I drove it around today and the power steering works well. Almost too well. I have the adjustment knob turned all the way down but it's still assisting way too much. Going to have to look into that.

Also, it's running on 5 cylinders. One of the injectors isn't firing. I tested the plug and it's firing fine so it's the injector itself.

Ordered some reman injectors so that I don't have to deal with this again.

Soon. Soon this will be up and running. Then it's on to the lift, wheels and tires.

And that's done. One M5od hybrid. 4.0 case with 2.3 internals.

With this out of the way I should start making some real progress. Dash and wiring is next.

I noticed when i pulled apart both m5od trans that the thrust washer on the counter shaft, was on top of the bearing, but in the diagram it's underneath the bearing. Found that weird.

I noticed the same thing.

When I was putting it back together I went back and looked at the pictures I took and the washer was on top of the bearing. I figured it's safe to put it back together the same way. This is the first one I've done so perhaps someone that has done this a few times will chime in, but I haven't had any issues with it yet.

Snapped some pics of the Ranger Custom. Runs and drives great. The electric power steering works excellent. It's So nice having 4.0 power and AC. Next up is the center console, bumpers and then lift. Maybe one day I'll paint this thing, but it has some rust on the doors and cab corners that need fixing.

It's the picture. That's a 2 row radiator out of an Automatic 4.0 explorer with A/C. I scored it basically brand new from a pick n pull wrecking yard. It's 2.25 inches thick.

The electric fan I have isn't quite doing the job, especially when running the A/C in 100 degree temps.

This should do the trick. Flex-a-lite 398. Rated at 2500cfm at 17 amps.

Have a part # for your fan?

I am going to need to do something different when I get A/C. Pusher fan won't have anywhere to go and the lo-pro flex fan won't keep up on its own.

I used this same fan on my BII with a 4.0 and it worked great.
