NewEgg has the Western Digital Caviar Black 750Gb SATA (32mb cache)
3.5" desktop drive on "free shipping" for $79 but there's a promo code worth another $15 off.

So the drive SHIPPED is $64.99

I bought one...

I wish I coulda bought TWO

The e-mail came earlier in the week and I didn't see it, but I think the sale ends saturday at midnight...

It's a 3.5" desktop internal drive.

What I look at when I'm HDD shopping is price per Gigabite.

take the price in dollars, in this case $64.99 and divide by the Gb capacity of the drive, in this case 750gb.

in this case 8.66cents per Gb.

It's difficult to do better than that with any other top brand HDD.

I don't entirely trust Hitachi or Samsung drives, though Samsung's customer service is second to none. when I got an 80Gb Samsung from a friend (an IT tech) that he got from work as DOA I called samsung they looked up the serial number said it's still under warranty and send me a .pdf FedEx shipping label to send it back to them, they sent me another newer (larger) drive no questions asked, no asking for a receipt no asking where I bought it.

AND they started the warranty clock over again from when I received the new drive...

But I keep nothing critical on my Hitachi, if you GAVE me a new Fujitsu drive you'd hear a loud "clunk" as it hit the bottom of a trash can.

But I generally prefer WD drives, though I have other drives by both Seagate & Maxtor, but I didn't buy them new, buying new? Western Digital!

But I believe I believe the sale is over, it was a one week sale and sunday is a "new week"
