several things regarding alignment cams... first, my truck doesn't have any, it's got the factory lock cams on it, so i need to replace them with the alignment cams before i can align it...

ok, for suspension components, i've always gone with MOOG brand stuff, with a few exceptions here and there, like wheel bearings... anyways, i was looking on rock auto, the full alignment cam kit from moog says it's good for -/+ 1-5/8" where as the moog cam only is -/+ 1-1/4, however, the raybestos version, which is a brand i trust for brakes... has a cam only kit that does -/+ 1-3/4 and a full kit that does -/+ 2-1/4

price isn't a huge difference, about $1 for comparable kits, and about $7 over the whole spread...

so is there a better kit? is raybestos a good brand for alignment stuff? obviously with raybestos having the larger range of alignment, it would be a more favorable part, but i figured i should see what you guys think...

also, it looks pretty straight forward to install and use, it is, right?

It's a stamped metal cam, like a washer with the hole off center, I would think that'd be awful hard to screw up. I'd get the Raybestos full set. If you ever need more than 2 1/4* you probably don't have any factory parts left up front.

Cheaper ones can be softer metal and oval out on ya.... Just my experience. I've had jeep lca cams made with tool/die steel before to stop it from happening.

Sounds good to me...

Neither raybestos, nor moog are cheap parts in your opinion though, are they?

Nope, used both along with ford parts and a set made by Specialty products. Never had an issue with any of em.

I think that kit is for one side because both upper control arm bolts need to be replaced with the cams.

yeah, the more i thought about it, the more i think you're right... which brings me to the next question... who aligns one side of a vehicle? so why would you not just sell a set of 4 bolts?

like who would get 2 brake pads?
