My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
I bought an 89 a couple months ago with a 2.9 and get it to 110-120 on the hwy pretty easy, would that mean I have something done?
trying to revive the thread 10 years later
I think your speedo is off if it legit read 120.

Actually the speedo even in 89 pegs at 85...so im not sure how you came to that.

That being said these trucks were never designed to go over 70-75mph and doing so presents a massive safety risk to you and everyone else

Speedo isn’t off or pegged since it was a road sensor/sign as well
Unsafe? Sure but I’m more asking why is it capable what could be done to make it capable.
I don’t have a picture going as fast.

I've had my 4 cylinder truck up to about 85 going downhill. Wouldn't really recommend. Why do you need to go 120mph on the highway? Great way to get a huge ticket. I guess maybe it was fun in my early 20's but now my money is a little more valuable.

If you have a legit reason to go that fast, IE drag racing on a track or something we could probably help but otherwise don't expect much of a constructive discussion if your goal is just to drive like an idiot on the highway.

Merkur Midwest. Grab an upper plenum from a scorpio, and if they have it, a cam too. Then head over to Stinger performance and have them make you a plug and play Megasquirt. Grab some mustang 19lb injectors and find someone to tune it, and then you'll have maybe 200hp. On high octane fuel. Boost is the way, or 4.0. Or live with it.
