FLASHlights: what's the latest in SUPER-bright LED "torches"??

Nitecore TM03. Tiny Monster. 2800 lumens. I have one, turns night into day. Little big for a pocket torch, it'll have people asking if you're happy to see them. LOL! But I made a belt holster for mine, although I have a friend that owns Top Tier Tactical here in Midwest City. He has a large selection of holsters that would work just fine. They're still listed at the Nitecore store, but some places list them as discontinued. They use an 18650, but it's not a standard one. Has double positives. Without that, you only can get the second brightness setting which is I believe 1100 lumens.

I carry a small Four 7's LED light. Has four brightness settings. 40 lumens, 100 lumens, 240 lumens and lastly 780 lumens. And it's smaller than your typical two-double A Maglite.

Don't go to CPF then. There's lots of professional reviews with tons of photos there. I stay away from the place because it's a money pit. I have too many damn lights as it is, most unused because something newer and brighter came along. Last light I bought was that Nitecore TM03.

I just use this. It's an older model and a bit bulky but great light output.

I only have experience with maglites. Here is what I use...a 6 d cell that I converted into a led, it is 300 lumens and is very bright side. The other is a 330 lumens 2 aa, and is also very bright. Have had these for years.

Another reason I use maglites are..when god said let there be light he turned on his maglite.

You haven't tried a 2800 lumen Nitecore. Turns night into day. Not much bigger than a maglite.

For general purposes, I carry a mini mag on my belt. Not bright but bright enough most of the time for quick stuff. If it looks like it's going to be a project, I break out the Black Diamond head lamps. I think most of mine are 350 lumens but I may a 400 floating around in there somewhere. I have one in each of the trucks for road side repairs and a few in the camping and SAR equipment.

I know the subject is super bright led flashlights, but my EDC is a Fenix E01. It's really small and although not very bright will burn for something like 13 hours on a rechargable AAA and I can easily hold it in my teeth (without gagging or breaking a tooth) for small jobs where both hands are required.

On a serious note. The only flashlights I buy are Pelican or Princeton tech. Why? Princeton tech is made 20 minutes from my house and I have literally gone there to throw broken lights at them.

Pelican because they have one of the last remaining no questions asks full lifetime warranty in existence. You break a pelican light, you're getting a new one no matter what.

I do not buy rechargable lights because while they are convienent, like anything with a proprietary battery once it's dead your screwed and need to either buy a bunch of expensive specific batteries to keep charged, or wait for a new one to get shipped. All my pelican lights take standard AA, C, or D batteries so while they aren't rechargable I can swap batteries instantly with stuff I have on hand or can grab at a 7-11. When it comes to emergency use, you cannot compare the two. If you don't have or can get batteries right now, what good is your super bright flashlight in an emergency?

While it's not a "flashlight" my pelican LED headlamp is dive rated (meaning waterproof to 300ft) and is brighter than hell with 4 AA batteries.

Pelican makes good stuff. We have some portable rechargeable led work lights from them at the shop. They are very good.

I do not allow any of my guns to be stored outside of a proper pelican case... Would you put your baby in a crappy Chinese car seat? The pelican case for my Ruger .22 actually cost more than the gun did.
