well my Hurst shifter and emblems and my Belltech 6400 Shackles came in at the house today , gotta get my finances straightened out and order my leaf springs ( if anyone needs the exact Ford P/N for the explorer leaves , i have it ) , then come spring break i am tearing her down to change the springs and shackles , i am gonna sand and repaint the rims and replace the valve stems , sand and paint my bumpers black , paint the flares black , put in my pop our side windows , and possibly do a roll on bed liner and change the speakers

pics of my shifter comin on friday once i get it in , also putting my head unit in tomorrow

got a pic of my head unit , cut the back off the cubby hole because i am gonna mount a switch panel on it like ForOffRoadDriving has in his truck

Nice looks good. I like the way it looks with the leveling coils and 31s. How wide are your wheels? Thats how I want my 97 to sit when I buy some new 31s.

on your choice of light, don't get eather, find the nearest airport and have them order you some plane landing lights, I haven't seen any thing brighter then them, I had a set on my last big truck, was a 99 Kenworth 800, they really light up the night, as far as a CB goes get the Ranger 2950, you will have to have it modded for the cb 40 channels, and get rid of that silly swr meter on the dash, those things will cause a radio to burn out the finales faster then then you can snap a axel with too much power.

by the by you need to put your truck on a low to no salt diet :)

It is a nice looking truck, also I would put a visor on, but only if I could get one with out lights.

Robert

p.s. one last thing the Unidens and Cobras use to be the same radio, just diffrent names.

The rims are 15x8 with the -19mm offset , i love the way they look on that truck , and i was expecting the coils to do a lot less than they did

1. i am looking at what is readily available for this truck at least , when it comes to my other truck i will have to look into the landing lights

2. I am looking for something decent that does not have to be modded to operate within the 40 channel range

3. i rarely use the radio right now , and my coax is too short to reach the radio , i am gonna get a double female end to connect my antenna coax to the 3 foot jumper i have hooked from the swr to the radio

4. I wish i could do that , but right now i am ion college in my home state , so i just get her washed once a week or when the weather is nice out to keep as clean as possible , once i move down south it wont be a problem , i hate the amount of salt they use in this state :annoyed:

5. I like the look of a visor with lights , i like how it looks at night with them lit up , the lund moonvisor you cant tell the lights are there until they are lit

and thank you , i think it is the best truck i have had so far

So how much did the coils pick up the front of your truck? I would like to level mine out and get some 31s but I'm not sure if the coils will pick my truck up too much.

the coils got all four corners of the truck to within a 1/2 inch of each other , i believe the LF is 34.75" , LR is 35.25" , RR is 35.00" , and RF is 34.50" , so the truck sits about level now , but the springs have not settled yet , i would say they gave me a good 1.5 inches of height , i was expecting far less because ForOffRoadDriving seemed to have bad luck with his , he put in the 2" coils and 1/2" spacer and only gained an inch , but i put the coils only in and gained 1.5"

EDIT: i used the 132x springs (spring itself said 132XS) , and i think if you put them in your truck they would work fine , remember i have a little more weight up front since mine is a 4.0

Ok, I wasn't sure how much they picked your truck up. I just didn't want to get a set and put them in an the front sit too high then. I kept the coils from the extended cab I had, I was thinking of putting them in a see what I get. I'd like to go up about 2". That way when I get some 31s they will look decent. My wheels are 8s so should be similar to yours.

well i got the hurst in the truck , i took pics but the computer is being stupid , i am thinkin about pulling the tranny outta the explorer and having it rebuilt and put in my truck , something just feels off about this trans , it "clicks" into every gear and it feels like i am having to be too forceful with the shifts , maybe it is just my imagination , i dont remember how the shifts felt in my Green truck when i had it

and now for the pics

starting off with my old home brew shifter

retails for $125 , only works with 5 radios including mine , guy had one left in stock and wanted it gone , so i got it for $50
100_2061.jpg

wire from the ipod to the CeNet controller , held in place by wire clips held under the shift boot

into the dash
100_2064.jpg

my streamlight charger/mount , the left side power point broke out of the bezel , si i plugged the charger into it behind the dash , no wires exposed
100_2065.jpg

once i mae a switch panel and get all my lights on i am gonna take everything back apart and do a better job with the wires , it is a mess behind the radio right now , i am gonna ziptie it all and tuck it away as much as i can , i am gonna do 4 switches , one for the rollbar lights , one for the 2 front lights ( i am getting a grille guard ) one for a set of puddle lights , and one for my bluelight.

looks good, how do you like the hurst?

thanks

the only issue i am having with the Hurst is the two bolts that hold the chrome lever to the nub that sticks up off the adapter keep loosening up , but i think i got that fixed , i am gonna swap out the cheesy "lock" washers for true lock washers ( will post pics when i do ) , other than that i love it , very short shifts , but it is the best money i have spent so far

WNY964x4! Hey man that Headunit looks awesome in there! glad to see you got your hurst shifter all setup! looks better than my truck! hahaha
