Nice work!

My guy brought over his test run prints of the letters. Next in black, then the paint to match as closely as possible the aluminum. The rears already match the existing alignment holes, so inserts are to be placed in the letters so screws can be used to fasten. Should have them this week.

Thought about taking the Ranger for her maiden voyage taking me fishing this morning, but didn't.
I am fortunate I did not.

After fishing, I came home and then took her out for a ride. We took a stroll down to Coquina Beach. She's got a little vibration between 55-60, probably from the year code 2016 tires on her. On the way back, she felt a little sluggish and I noticed the temp gauge creeping up a little, so I pulled over at the Croatan Center to check her out and immediately smelled burning brake pads.

Ruh roh, Scooby.

I let her cool down for about 20 minutes and figured I'd baby her home down the beach road. I made to the town line when I had to pull over into a Beach Access. The old motor wasn't liking the extra strain on her from the caliper seizing up and that temp gauge started looking angry. I found it was definitely the left front caliper from all the damn smoke. Glad she didn't ignite anything. We sat and had a talk for about 45 minutes so she could cool down... just like a woman, haha, then I snuck her home via between the highways with minimal brake useage for the last mile.

What sucks is I go back to work tomorrow, so there's no unlimited free time to tinker. She'll get right, I am just glad I didn't cook the motor.

What to do while waiting on the plethora of brake parts... remove the rusted out battery tray and repurpose an old Made in America 9x13 aluminum baking tray you've been using to store misc nuts and bolts. I now have room to expand in battery size if the desire ever presents itself.

I really enjoy seeing all the little details of giving new life to an old Ranger.

What did you use to paint the tailgate?

KOLOR KOALITION - Ford Medium Regatta Blue Metallic (M6096A) and topped with satin clear trying to match as close as possible to the old 38 year old paint.

Thanks.

Given the size I was curious to see if you actually used a spray gun or used a can of touch up.

2 - 11oz cans got me 3 coats (minus under the aluminum panel which stayed tan).

Cool. A lot of people are intimidated by the idea of having to paint something.

This is a great example of how you can replace your tailgate and paint it to match your truck without spending a ton of money or having it painted by a professional.

Great DIY. Did you by chance take any photos of it during the process to repaint it?

I did not. Just went at it because I am no body work man, so I went on the mission with no down time haha
