Not much going on. I'm still living at mom's house and helping her recover from hip replacement surgery. I have been working on electrical drawings. I got most of my custom drawings sketched out as far as I can without being there to see the wires and confirm details I misssed. Now, I'm cleaning them up and drawing them in the computer so they're neater and easier to follow. If I wasn't forced into this downtime, the drawings would have had to wait until much later and that makes the wiring harder. Now, I get to go home and wire it up to my design. Hopefully.

It won't.

You shit can the tight explorer set and replace it with the full van fead.

Hydroboost has its own demands and shortfalls.

Especially off road. The idea of the tighter explorer fead is great, but not necessary. I always open up the core support and maximize and forward the cooling system for the most part.

That is not necessary for normal low power applications in general . .but low range low speed off road under load..... especially with some horsepower it really pays off.

Wheeling the steering under load and braking will tax the pump to the point an Uber solid belt drive will develop issues...I actually slip the pulley sometimes and it walks...

That is an ass biter...

So anything less than Uber solid you will want to be ready
I wound up with a combo of F/E series fead with the saginaw pump. Core support was gutted to push the Ranger 2 core further out of the way. Hindsight, the Ranger radiator wasn't the best option, but it works.
 
Reality is setting in, regarding the condition of my heart. I have been feeling pretty good lately. Seems like I can do most things that I want or need to do. That has led me to believe that I really want to go back to my normal job, if they let me. Though there are doubts about whether or not they (BMW) will let me back in the plant. I have been mowing my own lawn most of the summer, even on some really hot days. But, Friday, I started mowing and after about 15 minutes, my defibrillator alarmed and threatened to shock me. I silenced the alarm and canceled the treatment (shock). Went in the house for a drink and a break. Had an All-Sport freezy pop with electrolytes. Soon, I tried mowing again. The defibrillator yelled at me again. So, I quit for the day. Had another freezy pop and went back to moms house after another break.

Today, I got back on the mower. Mind you, this is a stand-up commercial riding mower. I'm not really working hard. Just stand there and drive it. Easy. I got 3/4 finished before the defibrillator screamed. I went and took a much longer break with lots of water. Finally finished mowing.

All that is driving home the idea that I am no longer anywhere near as incincible as I once was. I'm finally questioning in my own mind if I really belong in an industrial plant any more. When a piece of equipment is broken, we have to get it running again. I can't just say "I'll do that tomorrow, when I feel stronger." Or "Hey, guys. I can't help. My heart is beating wrong. You fix it."

Reality sucks.

As far as the defibrillator, isn't there a possibility that the electromagnetic interference caused by the mower's ignition could cause the defibrillator to mistake it as an irregular heart rhythm? I'm not suggesting that you ignore it, just questioning if it could be something else.

As your friend, I'm concerned about your health. So much so that I'd be willing to come to SC this fall and help get your Ranger back together so you're not doing any heavy lifting or overly exerting yourself.

Once upon a time they didn't have resistor plugs in stock for my mower so I just got regular ones. I could hear every time a plug fired in my headphones.

How that compares to what a defib is looking for I don't know but ignitions do sling around electrical signals.

If it isn't that, a riding mower may help.

They are better at hauling Ranger parts too lol.
 
I bet seeing a guy riding a stand-up mower while being shocked by a defibrillator would be quite the show for the neighbors. :shok:

I didn't even think about the mowers ignition messing with the defibrillator. Inyeresting idea. I need to google that. I might have to wear a faraday cage to mow.

Thank you. I'll be ok. I've gotten used to using the engine hoist to lift heavy stuff. The transmission is probably the worst thing. I also jave a good transmission jack. So, that's not a big problem.
 
Maybe I could convert it to mechanical diesel. No electrical ignition.

Did you pull the core support? If so I would drop the engine in with the trans on it. If not I would consider doing so.
 
Make it remote control and drive it from your living room...
Not as wild an idea as it seems. I have most of the equipment from my RC boats. The mower is hydrostatic drive. I might need stronger servos or servo amplifiers to control the 2 fwd/reverse spool valves. Toggling blades on/off is easy. I need to look into those systems farmers use to tend their fields by gps.

I was just googling the idea of the ignition system being a problem and it seems that us very likely my issue. Some people have to be careful with cell phones and radios with their life vests. Not just this vest either. I may have to be careful with theimplant, once I get it. Crap. I wonder how gmrs will affect it. I have a lot of questions for my surgeon next week.

Don't knock them. My neighbor got one last year when she started her cancer treatments. Now she keeps the best looking yard in the neighborhood. Well after i weed wack it for her

This is the way. It’s easier with 2-3 people total to do the job but I’ve managed alone before. But the core support out of the way and shoving engine and transmission in together is nice. No fighting bellhousing or torque converter bolts under the rig.
