93 Splash in SC, V8-Swap version

Plan A didn't work for the seat installation. I would have had bolt heads interfering with the slider rollers. I actually damaged the one slider and had to completely disassemble it to straighten out the roller cages. Got it fixed. Anyway, plan B involved a little bit of welding and the seat is about 3/4" higher than it would have been. I still ended up with more headroom than before. Passenger seat is in and it slides forward and back as it should.

OEM Brackets and sliders.

1" angle welded to the slider top pieces. I added some 1" tubing gussets for strength. I don't think havung the angle edge welded in place was strong enough. The seat mountung holes near the center console are centeted over the original slider. The holes on the door side needed to move out roughly 1 3/4". I could center it and might on the driver side. But I think I like the extra room next to the center console.

I don't think the thigh bolsters are quite as tight as I made them sound. It's more that I'm just not used to having them there. I sat in this for a few minutes after getting it installed and I think it's going to be fine.

Here you can see how it sits on the 1" angle

Welders fix everything and you're likely shrinking as you get older, so it should all work out.

Worked on the driver seat today. Had more prep work to do. I had a bunch of sloppy "Eric Wiring" wadded up under that seat. I straightened that stuff up. And while I had the seat out, I lifted the carpet and removed the wiring harness for the 1354E and its control box. Then vacuumed the carpet and UNDER the carpet. I'll remove as much of the remaining t-case wiring as possible (pushbuttons in dash and power supply?) When I tear into the engine swap. So, whoever buys the t-case can also have the control box and 97.5% of the OEM wiring harness to make it work. All my metal is cut and drilled. So, if I get enough non-rainy time tomorrow, I can weld the seat brackets in and finish the driver seat.

Should be a good window between tomorrow afternoon and Sunday evening.

It's been on and off all day. Got the seat done between raindrops. Then drove it to Rural King as a test ride.

Welding finished.

That's a busy ceiling you have...

Seats look good.
I removed the headliner. Then installed sound-mat and velcro loop material. So I can put patches up there. Also my auxilliary light switch panel, remote speaker for the GMRS radio and LED strips to replace the dome light. I'm pretty happy with it.
