What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

@Rick W the only way to be sure on the vent system is to pull the dash. You might want to take a gander at the blend doors too. So as to make sure they are operating properly.

I know, but you’re not taking into account the upside down under the dash old fart in 90 degree heat with 70% humidity factor….

Fair enough, we are getting about the same treatment by the weather around here currently and none of us are getting any younger unfortunately

That vent on mine isn't as open as it should be. I put plastic right over it when I rebuilt the doors, then went back and cut the slots out with a razor after I got it done and couldn't close the doors without my ears popping. It was fine after that until I screwed the shifter plate down tight. I should have plenty of holes. I didn't even put the plates back on the cab mounts, but there is plenty of positive pressure. I can hear the fan struggling until the window is cracked. It works fine when pulling air from inside the cab...

Put some window vents on and leave a window slightly cracked?

I bought another Ranger today. Just for the parts. Body and frame are thrashed by rust, but it's a running 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4 with manual transfer case and manual locking hubs, a 8.8 rear axle and Dana 35 in the front. I can put all these features to use in my 2 85 Bronco IIs. Now the fun stuff begins.

Drained the coolant system, flushed, refilled and swapped heater core inlet/outlet hoses. The old coolant looked surprisingly nice and green while draining and no nasty sludge came out anywhere. That's nice to know. I wanted a good fresh start before making a really long trip next month and it has been a few years since I did it.

Got home from the trip to omaha, which then became a trip to sioux falls sd, too.

Here is the gas mileage report

Last Time Trial before the Gamblers race we had a !@#$%^&*(@%# BLOWN HEAD GASKET on the Ranger. Fingers crossed it's just the gasket.......

I got some 50/50 mix to do the same thing.

In "The Great Electrical Upgrade" of 2025 I switched from demolition to building back better.

During Covid, I was thinking to make an adapter to sit where the blower motor does that attached to a big shop vac.

Turn it on and fog the ducts with an alcohol water solution till it ran clear.

Pretty sure I could’ve collected 200 bucks in 45 minutes each from all the people that wore a mask alone in their car.

We had a modified backpack leaf blower that had a tank, hoses, flow valve, and diffuser. We would spray down the fleet vehicle interiors and our offices during the Covid lockdowns. We sprayed everything with Diamond Disinfectant 1000.

Don’t forget the spark plug if the blower/vac doesn’t just set it off. That’ll clean them out for sure.!
