‘94 4x4 Swap/Build

Sorry for the bad juju lol. No wonder your having issues though.. OEM fastener locations are definitely subar on the backs of those manifolds holy cow.

Already broke the F150 (I blame Blmpkn). Either warped the drivers side exhaust manifold or the rear bolt/stud broke. Can hear the gasket flutter like a reed valve under boost. This was the first time it didn’t idle for 5 minutes before I hopped in and took off.

So I ordered the BD diesel manifold set and all the gaskets/fittings/hardware needed to replace both manifolds. This should be a permanent solution but I may also look into turbo supports to take some of the weight off the manifolds.

I was just ribbing you, all is good! Why Ford didn’t make use of the extra holes in the first place is baffling. I’m sure they are there for mounting manifolds in a different application.

Every used vehicle I’ve bought in the last 10 years has needed some kind of “major” repair right off the bat. Van needed upper strut bearings (covered under warranty), wife’s 2016 Explorer needed most of the rear AC components replaced due to corrosion (under warranty) and now the F150 needs manifolds. The Ford parts will do the same thing in under 100,000 miles so I don’t think I want that one fixed under warranty.

Blame ford's bean-counters. They found that by not installing those extra bolts they were able to save the company enough money to get themselves a big fat end of year bonus check.

Its the same story with ford no longer putting the ecoboost badges on the new rangers past M.Y '19, as well as eliminating 2 tie down hooks in the bed, and eliminating the illuminated shifter bezel or whatever. It's probably also why new ford's don't come with a real gas cap... cost savings.

Well I got it fixed for now. Dealership I bought it from never even bothered to call me back. I don’t want ford parts on it anyways.

Just enough room to get in there and weld a nut on.

I found a bolt in one of my metric buckets that had a nice heavy Belleville style washer on it. Ran that it and torqued it to 19ft lbs. per spec.

This thing should probably have its own thread. I’ll start one when I get to changing the manifolds out. For now though, my reed valve manifold is fixed.

The Ranger has sat silent for almost 4 weeks as of today. Hopped in, hit the key and it came to life like I had just driven it 20 minutes before. Still love the hell out of that little truck.

My '90 always surprises me, unlike my '97 F350 diesel I jump in the Ranger after letting it sit for months and it just starts up and works... stupid diesel has two non isolated batteries (red top optimas for now....) that self discharge while they're fighting eachother... heck the '90 has been sitting idle behind the house after I washed it I think 4 weeks ago? should move it soon so I can mow the dirt clumps that I washed off of it...

It's the rule of the dissssilzz.... Leave on the solar maintainers...and only the maintainers...

Ya know, I don't think I've put on my 5W solar dealie since I put the optima's in... now where did I put that stupid thing...

Seperate the batteries....one each.... I have 25 watters

I've thought about that, but the MAIN problem is it involves forethought... :). It's on the list...

I see the box strapped to the pallets...

Sorry, I got a little distracted. Picked up the box and tailgate pictured for $275. They came off of a Kansas truck and have little more than surface rust. Lots of dents though but I’m not concerned with that. The box on the truck now is falling apart from rust and a bad repair job and the tailgate is done for. I’ll get more pics shortly and post them later.

Oh, that was your rig. I thought it was a meme.

So, we see the Ranger bed strapped to a pallet. But is the bed and pallet strapped to the truck in any way? Looks dangerous in the picture.
