PlumCrazy's Build

I like that idea for a road sign for a skid plate, plus it also lighter. Looks good

Thanks Nathan.

I think I might steel the road sign skid plate idea as well. It adds character to your truck for sure.

Does anybody know where I can find a gasket kit for a York 206/209/210?

I found some on Ebay, but they want 40-60 bucks. I really only need the head gasket and valve plate gasket.

BTW I am making progress on OBA version 2.0.lol

I picked up some tiny LoveJoy couplers to mate my motor to the compressor, but they are for a straight keyed shaft. The comp shaft has an aggressive taper and a key. I pulled the crank shaft out so I can put it on the lathe and turn down the taper and make it a straight 3/4" shaft.

I found the cylinder walls had a little rust from sitting unused, so I a brake cylinder hone to clean them up. Worked like charm. The valves, pistons, rings, and bearings still look like new.

I just have bore out the other coupler half a hair to slip on the motor shaft.

-PlumCrazy

I turned down the compressor shaft and keyed it to fit the coupler.

I also trimmed down the motor shaft and bored the other coupler out to fit it snug.

Looks like it will fit in the ammo can with .25" to spare.lol. I also pulled the motor apart and checked the brushes, bearings, and armature. It looks like new inside.

I just need a head gasket and I can test out the direct drive setup. The motor has plenty of power with the 2:1 pulley setup, but didn't spin it fast enough for the CFM I am looking for.

That ammo can looks badass. Are you going to use it?

Ill reuse the one thats already housing my current OBA setup. Its the same size as the new one, but already has the holes in it.lol

Did some more work on the OBA last night. I added a fill/dipstick tube to the York, and drilled all my mounting holes in the new box, Im using muffler clamps to mount the motor like I did on old compressors. I was going to reuse the old box, but this is just easier.lol
IMG_20120822_174400.jpg

I made the tube by chopping the threads off one end of a long 1/4" nipple, then tapped it to 1/8 to accept the dipstick I made.
IMG_20120822_175642.jpg

I made the dipstick by drilling a hole through an 1/8 plug a tack welding a rod into it.
IMG_20120822_150302.jpg

Tapped the crankcase, and done.

I drilled all the holes for the intake vent, hoses, solenoid, breaker, and pressure control valve too, but no pics.

Ordered a gasket kit for the York, so I can test it out soon hopefully.

As for your coil spring issue from a few pages back

I had the same problems with the larger coil's not fitting in the bucket however the spring rate seemed pretty good after a good year of wheelin and adding 100lbs of winch off the front bumper so i MADE them fit better in the explorer when i started building it.
I still need to get around to mounting up the 250 shock towers and ordering longer shocks but that will be this winter. these springs are the deaver superflex springs cant remember the exact spring rate but believe it was somwhere in the 225 230 ballpark, ordered them thru bronco graveyard, they have been cut shorter twice and might get cut again this winter when i hack up my fenders to lower the COG

my way of making them fit better.

as for the shock travel I still have what i would think is a very respectable amount of flex so it really hasnt bothered me too much yet which is why they are still on there. previous truck with the same front suspension on the ramp.

That was my plan, actually.lol. I was going to build my new arms and do some chopping on my buckets. They fit like poop right now, and my lower buckets are bent a little making the coils bow.

Gasket kit showed up for the York yesterday, so I threw it back together. So tonight will be the moment of truth for the direct drive configuration. If the motor
has enough ass to spin it, then its just a matter of bolting it in.
-PlumCrazy

Well...the direct drive OBA is a no-go. The motor runs out of ass at 40 psi. Looks like I am going to have to come up with a way to stuff some pulleys and a belt in the box too.
