Ford Ranger ‘Trigger’

The French company Arquus presents a new generation of its ALTV (Armored Light Tactical Vehicle) under the name of Trigger. The Trigger is a 4×4 light tactical vehicle based on a Ford Ranger chassis which can be configured for different roles and missions. The Trigger is able to be used as troop’s carrier and logistic vehicle.

The Trigger is available for both Interior Security and Defense forces. It was developed on the same militarized base as the VT4, the French Army’s new command, patrol and liaison vehicle. The Trigger is renowned for its endurance and versatility, which top all pick-ups in service in Africa, a region for which it is especially designed to be used.

With its high-capacity tank and its double gasoil filtration, the vehicle offers an autonomy of more than 1,000 km.

The engine is a 4-cylinder 2.2 l turbo diesel developing 150hp, or 375 Nm at 2,000rpm.

The vehicle’s empty weight is 3.5 tons. It offers the largest payload available on the market, thanks to its reinforced platform, specifically designed for military purposes. This platform holds up to 1.3 tons of supplies or weapons, depending on the mission. The maximum gross weight can reach 7 tons

The Arquus Trigger was recently showcased as a personnel carrier with a single cab at the front for driver and commander, while the rear part of the vehicle has a flatbed with two benches to carry military personnel. The rear part of the Trigger is also fitted with an anti-roll bar that includes a ring-mount which is armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.

As a Ford Ranger enthusiast who enjoys modifying my Ford Rangers for off-road use, I quickly discovered that there wasn’t any websites dedicated to the subject. So in 1999, I created TheRangerStation.com. What started as my own personal desire to help other Ford Ranger owners, has grown into a wealth of online information from numerous contributors. 20-years later, my commitment to the Ford Ranger, and the Ford Ranger community, is as strong as ever.
