I bought a used 2006 Explorer with a keypad on the outside but I don't know the code, it's not in the manual, and the dealership couldn't get in contact with the previous owner. Can we take it to the dealership to get it reset or what?

The dealership will hook it up to their scanner and retrive the code.

If you can locate the control module, it is printed on the module.

My 99's module is in the back, on the left side, behind the interior trim. There is an access panel for the jack (?) that I opened and found it. Right on top of the rear wheel well, IIRC.

The newer models may be different. Yep, they are: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204546&highlight=keypad

2002 thru 2007 is in the right panel behind the middle row window. It is below the seat belt mechanism. You have to pull out the top plastic panel off, then loosen the lower panel to be able to see the face of the computer module. The code is on a sticker on the face of the module.
I found this but I don't totally understand where it's supposed to be. Can anyone elaborate?

EDIT: I've read some other stuff that says you can't find a code on the newer ones. I guess I have to take it to the dealer...what a shame.
