What cam ? The reason I ask, is all this matters. The stock 302 in my Ranger prefers 89 octane fuel. It'll get by on 87 in the winter, but unless it's fed something higher in octane in summer, it'll ping everytime you nail the go pedal. But it's also got the stock F4TE cam. So unless I back the timing down some (which also pulls off some power at the same time) it runs best on 89.Its just bored .030, heads were shaved enough to resurface them but other than that the motor is a stock 302 ho
