Seeing as it's the parking break and it will only be used when the whatever is stopped. Why not use rivets? You could even use bolts with washers and nuts.

I did mention before that the linings are very thin (even when new) so finding a rivet with a large diameter but thin head (like the ones they used to use when they riveted linings on, before the gluing thing started) might be a challenge. I think I was prompted to ask the question more out of curiosity than anything else. It certainly prompted some interesting and entertaining replies.
