What size tubing is that you used, and what wall thickness?

Its 1/4" wall 1.75" tube.Kind of smaller not 2" but Its good for what i do I dont go rock climbing where I live. Just a little mud and some climbing on some sandy wash outs.

And yeah they brackets bolt to the bottom and side then there will be a peice of tube that runs from one bracket to the other braket on the other side. For a brace kind of like the stock one goes from one side to the other.

well i made mine holes 1.5" and it was alittle to small I had to ream them out alittle 1 5/8" would be better I believe.I'll measure them again later to see how long they are.

Ok the stock one measured from the axle housing on the rear to the mount is 18 inches or so.And my home-made are about 29 inches or so.

1-5/8" is what I had to make mine out to, yes.

1.75" .250 wall should be OK. Though I'd probably still run a gusset across the top of the arm to better reinforce the area where the tube & arm meet, at least on the driverside arm that's supporting the differential. There's a lot of stress on it in that area.

ok. so 1 5/8" for the rod end. how much play is there when you slide the rod end into the tube before you weld it?

Mine, there was maybe a hair over 1/16" gap between the two pieces.

it depends on how far up you cut it as for the gap.I would try and cut it where there was as little of a gap as possable.well there is a gusset on the inside of the arm with the tube welded to it and then to the arm.

Actually... I was thinking more of a gusset like this made of 1/4" or 3/8" plate to keep the tube from bending or fatiguing right where it meets up with the arm.

What size tires are you ultimately planning to run on it?

well I'm just gonna run maybe 31X10.50 15 in the end until I think about a SAS. But how do you make sure the axle is located right before i make the holes in the frame for the back mount.

I'm still learning for my own extended arms so I'll guess:
Center beam end in opening then drill holes.
I'm sure some one with more knowledge will will provide the correct answer.
