Finally got some time to sit down and post pics. Quite possibly one of the busiest weeks of my life, haha.
Anyways, we took Friday off work and started heading southwest into Missouri. It's a decent drive, so I thought I'd surprise the little lady with a pit stop at Ha Ha Tonka state park on the way there (thanks for the tip Ben!).
Ha Ha Tonka
We checked out the castle ruins for a while then headed down to the Lake of the Ozarks for a quick dip to cool off.
Then we continued down to SMORR, arriving just before 7p. Ben and Rob rolled in right as we were signing in. Perfect timing. We all paid our dues, then made our way to the campground to meet up with the rest of the crew.
We set up camp and hung out around the fire before calling it a night. Everyone was up at a decent time and we were able to get on the trails before 9a.
Al led us most of the way in his Toy truggy. We all had a blast. SMORR is an awesome park. Full of good sized hills with a multitude of challenging obstacles. We spent the majority of the day on trails rated 3-5. 6 is considered Extreme, and after being on a couple 5's, I don't think I would want to drag my truck down a 6. On to the pics!
This is the waterfall that munched the bed.
And the position we ended up in while coming up it.
It started to rain later in the afternoon, which was our indicator to head back to camp. We showered up, enjoyed another night around the fire, and hit the sheets. Sunday morning brought sunshine and rapidly warming temps. Benno hit the road early in the AM, but we decided to get some more sleep and cook up breakfast at camp. After some chocolate chip pancakes, we loaded up and hit the road.
I've been dabbling in another project with a co-worker and have been acquiring parts over the past couple months. Ben happened to have a set of axles that we could use, so we swung by his place on the way back home. We loaded up the axles and wrapped up the trek back home, arriving at a decent time Sunday evening.
And this is the resulting damage from the trip. The driver's side definitely got the worst of it, but the passenger side isn't looking so hot these days either. I'm on the lookout for a clean bed. That's a nice one Plum, but 600 smacks would put a hurtin' on the bank account. I've already come across 2 that are under 300 bucks. I'm holding out for a while to try and find a non-stepside in cardinal red. We'll see how that plays out.
