That's pimp! :icon_thumby:

Thanks guys. I always fear building something that is required to be aesthetically pleasing. I'm decent at building 'structures'. Not so much things that need to be pretty....
I understand completely :icon_twisted::icon_rofl:

Looks great. And I've never had any trouble with my bumpers, or half doors, or lack of license plate lights. But then again IL cops are more strict, at least in my experience.

Just depends on where in IL you're at. The cops give me a Thumbs Up when they catch me tooling around in my junk (Even in my hacked up XJ I never got hasseled :icon_twisted:)

Thanks again. I'm headin down to paint it up in black now. I'll post up tonight.

Cops are dicks in my area. I got hassled with my stock bumper. I posted up the slew of warnings I got one time somewhere in here. That being said, I've passed multiple cops already and haven't had any trouble. Its just the one guy that's having a bad day that will feel the need to hassle the little ranger. I'm sure it'll happen. Hopefully later rather than sooner.

I think there was condensation on the lens when I took this pic. Took the camera from inside (A/C) and ran outside to snap the pic. Anyways, I said I'd post so here it is. Looks so bare without the winch.

Black looks good though.

I had thought about putting some lights in it (probably mounted on the frame support tubes) but there aren't any 'local' parks that allow night wheeling, so I doubt I'd ever use them. I'm not in the market for any lights at the moment, but the thought of putting some on there will always be in the back of my mind.

I know, now I've gotta get some more pics so I can change my avatar again. fml. haha

Get that explorer done and I'll drive back down.

I decided to hide my solenoid behind my grill. Its up and out of harms way, to the side enough that its not really blocking any air to my radiator, and its pretty well hidden. I feel like I'm the master of stealth. haha

Pulled the grill and positioned the solenoid mounting plate

with the solenoid on the plate

Trimmed the air dam dealio

Grill back on. Easy access to the terminal through the void in the grill.

New terminals with power cables

Hidden wires

Spooled up ready for some pullin!

I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The install was super clean and went super easy. All of the wires were the perfect length, there was just enough room on the front clip to mount the solenoid, the gap was just enough in the grill to comfortably connect the controller to the terminal, etc. Overall I'm happy with it.

Hopefully I never have to use it. :thefinger:

Looks sharp man!

You must have smaller hand than me because I mounted my box in the same spot and I had to open up the hole in the grill a little cus it was a PITA to put the plug in. I think I will evenually mount some switches in the cab to control the winch.

How much of a pain is it to plug in your winch controller? I had my box mocked up the same way, but my hands were to fat to get in there and plug/unplug the controller.

Looks good!

Its not too bad plugging the controller in. I reach in and pop the cap off with my index and middle finger, then hold the controller plug near the end and push it right in.

I had to remove my airbag sensor (I assumer that's what it is) to get it in there. The terminal is almost right in the center of the grill opening.
