Hey people. My 4x4 up and stopped working last night. All that was occurring was bad weather. 1998 3.0 4x4. The dash light 4x4 flashes the 4high 4low between 4 and 6 time about every 2 minutes.

I don't even know where to begin on this system.

ok so that was quick.

I went outside and checked to determine if it was the motor or something else. Now it works fine.

So the question at this point is. what is down there that can be affected by 24 hours of water being sprayed on it that will cause the system to stop working.

I believe flashing 4x4 lights indicate that a hole needs to be cut in the floor to allow the new shifter from the manual case to operated.

Don't worry, it will come back. Just search for it though there are a ton of threads and good info on this common problem.

I use my 4x4 dash switch and love it. I don't have to stop. I am fairly sure those manual transfer-cases require you to stop and shift. Even if they are stronger and more reliable. They don't do what I want them to do.

Oh and.. where the heck would I put my coffee cup, I mean seriously! cup holder or stick... cup holder... stick.. hard choice!

You can still drop into 4 hi while rolling, both require stopping for 4 lo engagement. I still have two cup holders as well as a full center console with triple sticks.

Precisely. manual transfer case is literally No different except in the fact its more reliable. I had one in my f150. could pull it into 4HI any speed 55mph or below. Same exact thing my ranger with a push button 4x4 was capable of. Guess which one gave me less issues.....

That is how I'm setup. Still have my cup holders, coin tray, armrest, and all three shifters
